A little bit of Paradise

Today I’ll show you around my neighborhood. Walk with me.

Start with a good layer of sunscreen.

We’re going to walk around the rim of McMillan Mesa above my house. It’s about a five mile trip. This trip is all part of the urban trail system and is well traveled with good signage. It’s a perfect day, around 75 degrees, with less than 10% humidity.

I usually start here and walk around clockwise. The rim is immediately to the left and overlooks baseball fields, apartment complexes, and strip malls.

Heading around the bottom of the loop, turning back toward the peaks.

There is a slight breeze and the dry grass is waving a little. Everything is very, very dry.

There’s a guy sleeping under a tree beside the trail. He moves a little so I know he’s not dead.

Now we’ve circled one half of the mesa. We’ll cross the street on the bridge and walk the rest of it.

The urban trail has several tunnels under and bridges over busy streets and intersections. This is one of them.

The four-way junction at the bridge.

Now entering the north part of McMillan Mesa, also known as Buffalo Park. The Arizona trail also goes through here.

The city sprays something on the trails to keep the dust down. It hardens like glue.

Wrapping around the north end of the mesa, almost home now.

Kickin’ it on the back patio. It’s fully shaded and seldom gets above 75 or 80 here, so it’s where I spend a lot of my homework hours. I also brewed a gallon of iced tea from a combination of loose medium black tea from World Market and strong Golden Nepal from McNulty’s. I think it tastes pretty good. I think I’ll hang here the rest of the day.

..and a random picture from a recent trip to Sedona of a sunset/moonrise.

And that’s it for now. Happy Sunday!
